Went for church camp over the weekends. The theme was "trust and obey". It may seem like a simple theme but the sermon was really impactful.

It was told in the context of the book of Ruth.

Ruth, a Moabite had enough faith to leave everything and return to Bethlehem with her mother-in-law Naomi even though she was free to go after her husband has died and Naomi had nothing to feed her with.

Missed the 1st 2 sermons because of work, so I didn't know much about chpt 1 and 2. but i know that it's important that Boaz was a bachelor. So wonderful is God's plan, that he timed the return of Ruth and Naomi well (during the harvest season), and that Boaz was a Bachelor, if not this story would never happen.

In life, salvation is the 1st most impt thing, bcos it concerns eternity. 2nd would be marriage, because it concerns the rest of ur life. and this i believed God will provide. I always do. Although the wait is long, but it has taught me patience. Relationships that i rushed into never lasts, and they were never part of God's will anyway.

Ruth cared for Naomi, such that Naomi of little faith became a changed person through her kindness. Hence she decided to find a shelter for Ruth out of concern when previously she did not even care for Ruth.

In chpt 3, Ruth obeyed Naomi without question. It is very often we question why why when we are given a command. v5: i will do everything you say.

In chpt 4, Boaz displayed his righteousness. He married Ruth the proper way by asking the elders to be his witness and to enquire if the nearest kin was willing to do so before he considers. He knows that he may lose Ruth through this but he did not take shortcuts. Many a times we are tempted to take short cuts to turn things into our favour, but by doing so, we may not earn the Lord's blessings. If Boaz married Ruth by force, they may not have been blessed.

Ultimately, although the book of Ruth teaches us the lesson on trust and obey, but it also points towards Christ, as the old testament does. King David was their descendant and so is Christ.
